Behind the Curtain: This is Revant

Welcome to the page that is all about us. Which, in turn, is all about our community. Because what we do, how we do it, and why we do it all comes back to people and their adventures.

Welcome to 715 words of unabashed pontification on where we live (the best city in the world), what makes us tick, our passions, our pursuits, and our people.

Welcome to Revant.

The way we say that around the office is: REV-ENT. As in, “revel in the beauty of the experience,” and “always appreciate the moment."

We’re a motley crew representing a smattering of the states, all drawn to the thriving adventure mecca of Portland, Oregon. And we love everything about it.

Even down to all of the clichés:

Award-winning coffee, which we go through by the pound on a daily basis.

Food carts, which we visit from time to time on Fridays when we all get together to eat delicious food, swap stories, and talk about important things.

Microbrews, which we enjoy while hanging out at the growler bar down the street from our office.

And bikes. They hang on the walls of our office; we commute to work on them; we devour the local trails and head-off on day trips for mountain biking excursions. We love our bikes.

The largest city park in the nation is right outside our doorstep. Miles of hiking, biking, and walking trails surround us. You don’t have to travel further than 15 minutes to get to a trail. But if you wanted to –

We’ve got mountains. All over the place. Mt. Hood to our east. Mt. St. Helens and Rainer to our north. Jefferson to our south. The Coast Range to our west. We are swimming in mountains. And we don’t just gaze at their magnificent profiles against the sky. We’re out there riding them – on boards, bikes, and skis. We’re hiking, climbing, and exploring those majestic beasts.

And if we ever get bored there, we can trot out to the Columbia River Gorge and enjoy verdant paths, basalt cliffs, tumbling waterfalls, and intense vistas. Or go see the sights on the Pacific Ocean – duning and sandboarding in Honeyman or surfing at Manzanita. Or head out to Smith Rock for some rock climbing. Or drink in the view of the Painted Hills. Or raft the Deschutes, the Snake, or the Rogue.

We eat, live, and breathe the Pacific Northwest, and most especially Oregon. Our love of this region, our own backyard, is foundational to who we are, the adventures we pursue, and the products we create. Home is our heartbeat.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy it, which is why we’ve partnered with Outdoors For All, an organization that exists to enrich the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through outdoor recreation. And it’s why everyone in the company gets paid time off to pursue volunteer opportunities in our community. Because while the outdoors is our passion, people are our priority.

Together, they define our culture.

Our conference rooms are named after the mountains we love. A massive mural of the gorge overlooks us as we stand at our desks. That’s right, we stand at our desks. A panorama of the Portland skyline peeks through our tall windows. Constant reminders of our inspiration – our desire for adventure.

Because that is what we’re always pursuing – the thrill of discovery, exploration, and competition. We send a team out every year to the Wild Canyon Games and we rep our company in city league basketball. You will find us at Blazer games, standing in the army at Timbers matches, donning red and black scarves for the Thorns, cheering until we’re hoarse for the Ducks and Beavers, and engaging in contests, board games, and bets in the office year-round.

That competitive spirit pushes us to strive for better and greater accomplishments. We’re constantly learning new things – digesting the books and articles that fill our bookshelves, taking online courses, and engaging in discussions with industry leaders, peers, and our community.

Our personal life seeps into our office life, and our office life seeps into our personal life, and it all becomes one holistic, beautiful mess of inspiration, education, innovation, and exploration.

We are Portlandians. We are Oregonians. We are Revant.
