We Didn’t Invent Color
We Perfected It
Because the right sunglass lens does more than cut brightness, our color guide covers the right lens for any condition. The right lens can improve how you see color, contrast, and terrain whether you're driving, on the water, on a trail, or anywhere in between.
Revant replacement lenses fall into four categories, each built for different environments and visual priorities. Features like SpectraBoost™, MirrorShield®, and polarization available in a variety of colors mean dozens of choices for hundreds of styles - without replacing your frames.
SpectraBoost Non-polarized Lenses
Color enhancing technology sharpens natural contrast and visual separation. Non-polarized by design to preserve depth perception; higher VLT keeps visibility strong when the light drops.
Great for: skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, trail running, tennis, and sports where fast reaction time is critical.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which lens color is right for my activity?
Lens color affects how your eye reads contrast, brightness, and terrain — not just how the lens looks. As a general rule: gray and black tints are neutral and work across a wide range of conditions. Brown and bronze tints boost contrast and warm the scene, making them strong performers on water and trails. Green tints balance contrast and color accuracy, a good all-around choice. Mirrored versions of any of these add an extra layer of glare reduction on top of the base tint's characteristics. The activity sections above match specific lens colors to specific conditions — if you're not sure where to start, find your activity and go from there.
What's the difference between polarized and non-polarized lenses?
Polarized lenses filter reflected glare — the harsh light that bounces off flat surfaces like pavement, water, sand, and windshields. That makes them especially useful for driving, fishing, and anywhere reflected light is the main thing working against you. Non-polarized lenses reduce overall brightness without targeting reflected glare specifically. They're the right call for fast-reaction sports like skiing and mountain biking, where polarization can soften the subtle depth cues your eyes use to judge distance and terrain. Both are available across Revant's Standard and SpectraBoost lens families.
When should I choose SpectraBoost over a standard lens?
It comes down to your environment. Standard lenses do exactly what they're supposed to — reduce brightness, protect your eyes, and keep the view comfortable across a wide range of everyday conditions. They're a solid choice for travel, casual outdoor use, and situations where you're not pushing into demanding light.
SpectraBoost is built for conditions that push back. When you're on the water trying to read the current, coming down a mountain where every terrain change matters, or driving into sun that won't quit — that's when color boosting does real work. If your outdoor life is active and the environment is dynamic, SpectraBoost gives your eyes more to work with.
Not sure which way to go? Both are available in polarized and non-polarized versions. If you'd describe your conditions as demanding, go SpectraBoost. If you'd describe them as comfortable, standard lenses have you covered.
What does a mirror coating actually do?
More than most people realize. The reflective layer on a mirror lens bounces harsh light away from the lens surface before it reaches your eye, cutting additional light transmission by 10–60% depending on the coating density. That's meaningful in high-altitude environments, on open water, or anywhere overhead glare is relentless — the mirror is doing active work, not just looking good. It also adds a protective layer over the lens surface, improving scratch and impact resistance. And the one-way reflective effect gives you privacy: people see the coating, not your eyes.
How do base tints and mirror coatings work together?
Every mirror coating at Revant is paired with a specific base tint — the color you actually see through the lens. The pairing is intentional, and it's where the real optical work happens.
Gray base tints are spectrally neutral — they reduce brightness evenly across all wavelengths without shifting color, which makes them a strong pairing for driving and everyday conditions where color accuracy matters. Brown base tints selectively filter blue light, lifting contrast and warming the scene — especially useful on water or trails where terrain definition matters more than neutrality.
Take Emerald Green or Tidal Blue — two popular mirror colors for water and outdoor use. We pair green with a warm brown base tint and blue with a grey base so the view through the lens isn't overwhelmed by greens and blues on the water. The brown base color-corrects the image, softening saturation and keeping things natural and comfortable.
Two lenses with the same mirror coating but different base tints will look different through the lens — even if they're nearly indistinguishable from the outside. The mirror coating has an effect on which wavelengths of color are being let in (example: green mirror is reflecting back green light reducing that amount of color coming in) making specific mirror shades ideal for certain environments. The base tint controls how your eye interprets the color it sees as well as the VLT. It's a level of detail most lens brands don't publish. We think it's worth knowing.
