Yes. If you have a full-rim pair of sunglasses or eyeglasses, we can almost certainly make custom prescription lenses for them. We work with hundreds of frame brands including Oakley, Ray-Ban, Maui Jim, Smith, Costa, Nike, Warby Parker, Oliver Peoples, Spy, Wiley X, Persol, and many more. The short list of frames we can't work with: shield or one-piece lenses, extremely oversized frames, and wood or bone frames. Not sure about yours? Just ask us.

In order to ensure a perfect fit for your frames, we need to have them in hand. For that reason, our timelines start from when we receive your frames. In the case of a simple, single-vision prescription with no mirror coating, most orders will take about two weeks. More complex lenses—progressive or sunglasses with a mirror coating—can take three to four weeks from the time we receive your frames. When you are configuring your lenses, and you are at the point of choosing the color, you'll see a timeframe noted specific to your choice. All orders are tracked, and we'll keep you updated at key milestones along the way, including delivery.

Yes, you'll send us your frames and we'll do the rest. Your frames should be in good structural condition: no broken hinges, missing screws, or cracked rims. We inspect every frame when it arrives. If we notice something that could affect the fit or quality of your new lenses, we'll reach out before we proceed.

Prescription lenses at Revant start at $95 and go up depending on the lens type and options you choose. Single vision lenses are the most straightforward. Progressives, polarized lenses, and add-on coatings like anti-reflective or scratch resistance will affect the final price. You'll see exact pricing as you build your order.

We don't accept vision insurance directly at this time. However, prescription lenses are generally eligible for FSA (Flexible Spending Account) and HSA (Health Savings Account) funds. Always check with your plan administrator to confirm your specific coverage. If you’d like an itemized receipt to submit with your claim, one will be available to you in your order confirmation email.

Yes. We offer polarized prescription lenses across several of our lens tiers. Polarized lenses reduce glare from reflective surfaces like water, roads, and snow, making them a strong choice for driving, fishing, and most outdoor activities. If you're doing high-reaction-time sports like mountain biking or skiing, non-polarized may actually be the better call. We can help you decide.

Almost. We can make prescription lenses for the vast majority of full-rim sunglasses and eyeglasses frames, including popular brands like Oakley, Ray-Ban, Maui Jim, Smith, Costa, Nike, Warby Parker, and hundreds more. The exceptions are shield or one-piece lenses, extremely oversized frames, and frames made from wood or bone. If you're not sure whether your frames qualify, reach out and we'll tell you straight.

We offer three premium material types for our lenses and you can choose the one that works best for your prescription and/or activity.

• Polycarbonate - A highly durable, budget-friendly, impact-resistant thermoplastic polymer. Available on all prescriptions and colors. 
• Trivex® - A premium urethane-based monomer. It matches polycarbonate's extreme toughness but provides much sharper, crisper optical clarity and weighs less. Available on all prescriptions and colors EXCEPT Neochromes® Agile - Gray and Neochromes® Agile - Brown.
• 1.67 High-index - A dense, high-performance plastic designed to bend light more efficiently. It is engineered explicitly to make strong prescriptions up to 20% to 30% thinner and lighter so you can avoid a thick "Coke-bottle" look. Available on all prescriptions and colors.
  
  

Single vision lenses correct for one focal distance, either near or far. Progressive lenses correct for multiple focal distances in a single lens, with no visible line between them. They're the modern alternative to bifocals. Revant offers both Standard and Premium tiers for single vision and progressives. Premium lenses use a wider corridor and more precise optics, which most wearers find more comfortable, especially for progressives.

Prescription expiration laws vary by state, but most states require a valid prescription that is no more than 1 to 2 years old. We're required to follow the expiration rules for the state you're ordering from. If your prescription has expired, your eye care provider can issue a current one, which is worth doing anyway since your vision can change over time.

Your prescription will include a few standard abbreviations. OD is your right eye, OS is your left eye. SPH (sphere) indicates the degree of nearsightedness or farsightedness. CYL (cylinder) and Axis indicate the degree and orientation of astigmatism correction. ADD is the magnification for reading, used in progressives and bifocals. PD is your pupillary distance, which tells us where to center the lenses in your frames. If anything on your prescription looks unfamiliar, your eye care provider can walk you through it

Print it at 100% scale (not "fit to page") so the measurements stay accurate.

You can do this yourself in a mirror, but we recommend having a friend or family member measure your segment height for you if possible.

1. Put your glasses on and stand 8 inches (20 cm) away from the mirror or your friend.
2. Facing the mirror straight on, hold the ruler vertically between your nose and pupil.
3. Align the ruler at the 0 mm mark with the bottom of the lens (IMPORTANT: ensure you measure from the bottom of the lens and not the bottom of the frame). 
4. While still looking straight ahead, read the mm mark inline with the center of your pupil — that is your segment height. 

Repeat these steps 3 or 4 times to ensure an accurate measurement.

Your prescription is stored securely in our dedicated prescription management platform. Only your optician-verified lens specifications are sent to our lab to manufacture your lenses. We hold ourselves to HIPAA-level security standards to protect your prescription data, and we never share it with advertisers or marketing platforms.

Revant’s clear prescription lenses adhere to Z80.1 prescription standard, and all sun lenses, including prescription, adhere to Z80.3. These standards include: 

ANSI Z80.1 for Prescription Lenses

Purpose: Applies to prescription ophthalmic lenses intended to correct vision.

Focus: Details optical tolerances (such as cylinder power, axis alignment, and prism accuracy), physical dimensions, and thickness requirements for corrective prescriptions.

Scope: Excludes non-prescription or plano items.

ANSI Z80.3 for Non-prescription Sunglasses

Purpose: Applies to non-corrective ("plano") sunglasses and fashion eyewear. 

Focus: Specifies limits for UV radiation blocking (UVA and UVB), luminous transmittance (tint darkness), and traffic signal color recognition.

Scope: Excludes prescription lenses, industrial safety glasses (which fall under ANSI/ISEA Z87.1), and specialized sports protective gear. 

Note: Neither of these ratings means "industrial safety glasses". If you need heavy-duty eye protection for construction, laboratory work, or shooting sports, you must look for an ANSI Z87.1 rating instead.

You may see either a single number (your binocular PD, measured across both eyes) or two numbers (your monocular PDs, one for each eye). Both work. Monocular PDs are slightly more precise, especially for progressive lenses, so if your prescription includes them, use those. If you only have a single PD number, that works too.
